Bernard Alphonse Harrington, Sr.
Bernard Alphonse (Al) Harrington, Sr., 83, of Lumberton, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 29, 2020.
Al was born in Lumberton where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Lumberton High School in 1955. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in which he served 41 years, mostly with the 890th Engineers Unit, and retired with the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
He studied at Mississippi Southern College (USM). He was employed at Stennis Space Center for 46 years and retired in 2000. He worked part time in his refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning business, Alís Air Conditioning, and taught night classes at Pearl River Junior College (PRCC).
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Lumberton where he worshiped and served faithfully throughout his life.
He enjoyed square dancing and served as the president of his square dance club. He was also active in American Legion, leading fundraisers for the scholarship fund.
He loved spending time with his family and hosted many family gatherings regularly at his home. He was a most loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend who spent his life selflessly serving, teaching and leading others.
Al is survived by his wife, Sherry Harrington; daughter, Keyna Holmes (Tim), Slidell, LA; son, Al Harrington, Jr. (Bethany), Lumberton, MS; daughter, Traci Herrin (Bryan), Purvis, MS; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Al is also survived by his sister, Patricia Boutwell of Lumberton.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Harrington; his parents, Leo and Elizabeth Harrington; and sisters, Mary Alice Fillingame, Margie Landry, Leona Courtney, Frankie Blackwell, Betty Sckiets, and Ethylreda Stiles.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 02, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. A private family visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
