Bobbie Nell Sumrall
Bobbie Nell Sumrall, age 94, passed away peacefully at Asbury Hospice in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on May 19th, 2021, surrounded by family.
She was born on June 5, 1926 in Seminary, Mississippi.
Bobbie is survived by her beloved daughters, Sheila Mathis (George, late husband) and Sharon McCrary (Bill, husband); beloved granddaughter, Tara Peden (Nelson, late husband); beloved grandsons, Stephen Mathis (Mellissa, wife), Mark Mathis (Lesley, wife), Billy McCrary (Karen, wife), and Scott McCrary (Elizabeth, wife); beloved great-granddaughters, Juliann Riggs (Jayce, husband), Olivia Grace McCrary, Anna Caroline McCrary, and Nora McCrary; beloved great grandsons, Parker Mathis, Hunter Mathis, Jake Mathis, Ben Mathis, Grant Mathis, Rowan Peden, and Gabe McCrary; and special family members Eugene Howard (Darlene, late wife), Victoria Howard, Lauren Howard (Chris, husband), Miranda Howard, and Wil Howard (Tyler, wife). She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Ivy. Special thanks also to her faithful caregiver, Sue Bandy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband of 74 years, Alvin Sumrall; her parents, William Horace Napier and Clara Pearl Napier; her sister, Miriam McLemore, and her brothers, Horace Napier (Helen, wife) and Dillard Napier.
She was a dedicated and devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who brought joy and comfort to everyone she met. She enjoyed attending church and sporting events, recitals, and other important family events to see her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, and was the oldest current member of the church.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 21st, 2021 at 1pm at Immanuel Baptist Church followed immediately by a memorial service at the church.
