Clinton Alvin Beasley

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at First Baptist Church Sumrall for Mr. Clinton “Alvin” Beasley, age 80, of Sumrall, MS, who died in the line of duty on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Burial will be at First Baptist Church Sumrall Cemetery (with honors by the Mississippi State Fire Bureau).

Mr. Beasley worked for Movie Star Lingerie, Incorporated, for over forty years, with most of those being a plant manager in Sumrall, then Purvis, and finally Poplarville. He was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church Sumrall where he served as deacon for many years. Alvin also was the longest continuous member of First Baptist Church. He was a very active member of the Sumrall Lions Club for 52 years where he served as club President several times and was currently the program chair. Alvin was a charter member of the Sumrall Sportsmans Club where he served as president and most recently as treasurer. Alvin was board member for the Town of Sumrall Zoning Committee.

He was selected as Citizen of the Year for the town of Sumrall by the Sumrall Development Foundation on May 7, 2016.

Mr. Beasley was a volunteer fireman for Sumrall Fire Department for 47 years. He was chief for 15 years from 1981 to 1986 and was currently serving as Deputy Chief. The fire building was named in his honor in 2006.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Terri Alva Beasley, his wife of 52 years, Barbara Davis Beasley, four brothers, Oben Beasley, Ethridge Beasley, Johnny Beasley, and Charles Orville Beasley; and his parents, C. O. and Maggie Beasley.

He is survived by one daughter, Lora Beasley of Sumrall.

Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Saturday at First Baptist Church Sumrall and will continue at 12:30 P.M. Sunday at the church.
