Douglas E. Benedict, Sr.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Grove for Douglas Eugene "Brother Doug" Benedict, Sr. of Oak Grove Community.
He was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 7, 1938 and was reared in Orange Lake Florida. He was educated in the Marion County School System at Reddick High School, Florida Baptist Convention Baptist Bible Institute and received the Master of Religious Education Degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was ordained into the ministry in 1969 and served churches in Mississippi, Alabama and retired as Director of Missions of Lamar County Baptist Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, brother and grandson.
He is survived by wife Gail Benedict of Oak Grove; daughter Charmaine Preiss (Donald) of Richmond, Virginia, two sons Butch Benedict (Rhonda) of Hattiesburg and David Benedict of Atlanta, Georgia; granddaughter Nikki Howard and two grandsons Joshua Eugene Howard and Casey Benedict (Layne) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lamar County Baptist Association Mission Center, 2843 Hwy 589 Hattiesburg, MS 39402 or the mission of your choice.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Oak Grove from 5 pm-8 pm, Friday.
