Dr. Vance Marshall McKellar

Vance Marshall McKellar passed away on December 8, 2021, age 65, surrounded by his loving family.

Vance was born on October 27, 1956 in Laurel, MS, to the late Robert E. McKellar and Mildred A. (Collins), and was a loving older brother to his younger brother David (Ginny Pittman). He graduated from USM in 1978, marrying the love of his life Kathy Beverly, celebrating 43 years of marriage this year. Graduating from UMC in 1982, Vance went on to practice emergency medicine in Pensacola, FL, fathering his two sons Garrett Marshall and Gerald Robert West. Moving back home to Hattiesburg, MS, he continued to practice medicine for over 30 years, touching the lives of many with his jovial bedside manner.

Vance was a lifelong outdoorsman and lover of people, music, and laughter. The outdoors were his sanctuary, and he found God in nature daily. He travelled with friends and family across the world to experience nature, from Anchorage to Santiago. Vance celebrated life and encouraged others to live life positively and fully.

Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg on Dec 14 from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Edwards Street Fellowship Center.
