Earl Marshall was born in Philadelphia, MS, on August 3, 1936 and passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was married to Bobbie Jones, the love of his life, for 62 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Pearl and Algie Marshall and sister Maxine (Clifford) Peden.
He is survived by his wife, his sons Mike Earl, Mickey (Julie) and Bob (Lea) Marshall. His brothers Wendell (Gloria) and Jimmie Marshall. He was very proud of his five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Earl earned his Eagle Scout Badge prior to graduation from Philadelphia High School. He was awarded football scholarships to ECCC and The University of Southern Mississippi. He graduated from Southern Miss in 1958. Earl was very proud to be the first in his family to graduate from college. Since then, his immediate family members have earned 10 degrees from USM. Earl greatly loved both ECCC and Southern Miss and received many honors, awards and Hall of Fame inductions.
He served in the US Army and was assigned to Fort Hood, TX and then received orders to the 3rd Armored Division in Frankfurt, Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Mississippi to coach high school football in Crystal Springs, and Tylertown, Mississippi. The majority of his career was spent as a salesman for Lincoln National Life.
Earl's favorite past time was watching sports with Bobbie who he often referred to as his "First Wife!". They were longtime members of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
Visitation for Earl Marshall will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hulett- Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Graveside service will he held on Friday, June 11, at High Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Forest, MS at 3:30 p.m.
