Earnest Carroll Lowery
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Main Street Baptist Church for Mr. Earnest Carroll Lowery, 89, of Hattiesburg, MS who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Forrest General Hospital.
Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
Carroll grew up in Sumrall, MS and graduated from Sumrall High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and was a MASON. Carroll was also known for his hard work at Hercules for 42 years. He loved to share vegetables with friends from his large garden in Sumrall, which he enjoyed nurturing through many hot summers. After retirement Carroll devoted his time to family, church, gardening, fishing, hunting and his yard full of beautiful flowers. The City of Hattiesburg gracefully recognized his yard several times with the "Yard of Month Award".
Carroll was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church for over 67 years. As a member of MSBC, he served as a deacon and was assigned to various committees within the church. He was truly loved by and devoted to his wife, family, and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
Carroll was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wilmer and Annie Lowery; brothers, John Robert Lowery, Curtis Lowery, and Jimmy Lowery; two grandchildren Donald Wayne Lowery, Jr., and Derek Lowery.
He is survived by his wife, Lelia Grace Lowery; two sons, Donald Wayne Lowery of Hattiesburg, and Dave Lowery (Melanie Powell Lowery) of Ridgeland, MS; and three grandchildren, Elise Lowery Blackwood (Ryan) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Justin Lowery and Renee Lowery of Hattiesburg; one brother, Benny Lowery of Hattiesburg; one sister, Willene Willcutt (Herman) of Birmingham, AL and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Main Street Baptist Church building fund or Outreach Ministry through television.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at Main Street Baptist Church.
