Edward Anthony "Eddie" Petro, Jr.

Edward "Eddie" Anthony Petro, Jr. passed away March 14, 2021 at his home in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Eddie was born September 8, 1942 in Pascagoula,
Mississippi to Edward Petro, Sr. and Helen Chappell Petro. He attended Sacred
Heart School and Hattiesburg High School. He proudly served in the United
States Marine Corp.

He started his professional career as a Sales Representative in the Cable TV
Industry. He later built cable systems in Collins, Mobile, Baton Rouge and

Eddie is a former Sales Manager of Ryan Chevrolet and Dossett Pontiac Cadillac
and GMC. He then went on to buy the local Nissan dealership in 1990. He served
on the Nissan National Dealer Advisory Board from 1993-1995. In 1996, he built a
new building and moved his dealership to its current location in West
Hattiesburg. Eddie paved the way for the future of car dealerships in Hattiesburg,
being the first to make this move out west.

Eddie loved his family, his dog Buddy, and anything with a motor and wheels.
There is no place he loved to be more than on his boat in the Gulf of Mexico
trying to catch the “Big One.”

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Debbie Marie Petro who
died at birth, and daughter-in-law Angie Walker Petro. He is survived by his wife
of 58 years, Carolyn, son Tony Petro, daughter Debbie Petro Barlow (Brian),
grandchildren Toni Ann Petro of Ocean Springs, Ryan Kay Petro of Biloxi, Hannah
and Logan Dukette of Hattiesburg, and Peyton and Payne Petro of Hattiesburg.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The University
of Southern Mississippi Foundation and mailed to 118 College Drive #5210,
Hattiesburg, Mississippi 39406. Please note that the gift is made in memory of
Eddie Petro in the memo line of your check. The family plans to create an
endowed scholarship in Marine Biology in his honor. Donations may also be
made to the Saint Fabian Building Fund.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hulett-Winstead
Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March
20, 2021 at Saint Fabian Catholic Church on HWY 589 S in Hattiesburg, with burial
following at Highland Cemetery.
