Henry G. Bishop, Jr.
Henry G. Bishop, Jr., 75, a retired Presbyterian (PCA) pastor, and a resident of Hattiesburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, January 21, 2012, in La Grange, Georgia.  Mr. Bishop had been living in LaGrange with his daughter, and passed away as a result of complications from Parkinson's Disease, with which he had struggled for the past several years. 
Mr. Bishop was born and raised in Fairhope, Alabama, served in the United States Navy from 1955-1957, and was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in 1961, where he met his wife, the former Mary Arden Wilson from Hattiesburg.  Mr. Bishop was called into the Christian ministry after a brief career in the banking industry, and graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson in 1971, as well as Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Va., in 1972.  Mr. Bishop served as pastor for Presbyterian churches in Decherd, TN., Macon, MS., Raymond, MS., Crystal Springs, MS., and Montgomery, AL.  After retiring from the full time ministry in 1998, Mr. Bishop served as stated supply pastor for Presbyterian churches in Leakesville, MS., Robertsdale, AL., Ellisville, MS., and Covington, LA. 
Mr. Bishop's wife, Mary Arden Bishop, preceded him in death, having passed away in May, 2007.  Mr. Bishop was also predeceased by his father, Henry George Bishop in 1980, his mother, Mrs. Alice Wainwright Bishop, in 1996, and his sister, Patricia Bishop Moore in 2000.  Mr. Bishop leaves behind his son, Henry George Bishop III of Hattiesburg; his daughter, Mrs. Abigail Bishop Bakarich of LaGrange, Georgia; his sister, Judith Bishop Ellis of Fairhope; and six (6) grandchildren. 
Mr. Bishop's funeral is scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Bay Street Presbyterian Church, with a brief period for visitation immediately prior to the service.
