Jack C. Brewton

Jack Cleavland Brewton, a member of The Greatest Generation, devoted & faithful husband, loving father, outstanding grandfather, super great-grandfather, marvelous storyteller, and renown New Year’s Day Hog Jowl chef. He was known affectionately as Jack, Father, Daddy, Dad, Mr. B, and PaPaw. Jack entered eternal life on December 19, 2018. He was 90. He was born April 27, 1928 in Sumrall, Mississippi. He stubbornly pronounced it “Sum-er-all”. His parents were Randolph Benjamin Brewton and Sarah Alma Brewton.
Jack graduated from Hattiesburg High School and attended his freshman and sophomore years at Mississippi Southern College (University of Southern Mississippi). He served two years in the United States Marine Corps. During his active duty he served at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in December 1941. Jack worked for Hercules, Incorporated, in Hattiesburg, and retired after more than 38 years.
Jack married the former Sara Elizabeth West. They were married 68 years at the time of his death
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Cyrus Brewton of Hattiesburg, and his sister, Katherine Brewton Capp of Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Sara, his three daughters, Carolyn Brewton Lowery (Doug) of Hattiesburg; Patricia Brewton Salter (James) of Hattiesburg; Helen Brewton Sims (Wade) of Meridian; and one son, Randy Brewton of Knoxville, Tennessee. He cherished his ten grandchildren (Stephanie, Katie, Chris, Philip, Nic, Tripp, Madison, Rachel, Helen Peake, & John Daniel) and his six great-grandchildren (Katelyn, Owen, Jackson, Jack, Julia, & Emerson).
Military rites will be performed by the Commiskey-Wheat 1073 Marine Corps League.. He will be interred at the Highland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. The memorial service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, 2420 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39401. 
The United States Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful). That was how Jack Cleavland Brewton lived his entire life. He was always faithful.
