John Thomas Long, Sr.                                 

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Chapel for Sgt. John Thomas Long, Sr. (USA-Ret), 74, of Brooklyn, MS.
He died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the MS State Veterans Home.
Iinterment will be in McLaurin Cemetery with full military honors.
Sgt. Long was retired from the US Army and from NECO as a machinist. During the Vietnam Era, Sgt Long served in Thailand and Germany. He will forever be remembered for his generous, kind heart always reaching out to those in need. He never met a stranger. He was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Long; parents, Joe Cephas, Sr. and Verona Beasley Long; three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Moore Long of Brooklyn, MS; four sons, John, Jr. (Tillie), Sampson, Simon and Henry Long(Tiffany) all of Hattiesburg, MS; one daughter, Loretta Long Davis (Jammie) of Brooklyn, MS; one sister, Emily Overman of Durham, of North Carolina; one brother, Claudie Long of Hattiesburg, MS; eleven grandchildren, Sherry Long, Cody Long, Angelina Long, Ethan Long, Gracie Williams, Kayden Williams, Patrick Davis, Brianna Davis, Preston Davis, Leslie Burris, and Tucker Thomas; and one great-granddaughter, Baelin Cannon.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home.
