Joseph Scott Rey
Joseph Scott Rey, 34, of Hattiesburg passed away on November 1, 2021. Joseph was born on February 24, 1987 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born into a military family, Joseph lived in many places including; Colorado, Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kuwait, and Oregon, but Hattiesburg was always home.
Joseph graduated with honors from Presbyterian Christian High School. While at PCS, Joseph was a star soccer player, captain of the soccer team, and recipient of multiple MVP awards. Joseph graduated in 2005 followed by his caring wife and adoring brother in 2010. He was an award winning soccer referee with the Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) and was a founding member of the Hattiesburg Chapter of the American Outlaws Soccer Club of Hattiesburg, MS. Joseph was a life-long lover of “The Beautiful Game.” Joseph was even a soccer player for Halloween this year showing his love for soccer.
He attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Joseph began his professional career with his Step-Father Bennie Palmer, at The Palmer Insurance Agency as a licensed independent insurance agent, and later joined Progressive Insurance Company as a claims adjuster, and was promoted to the role of Catastrophic Claims Manager, a position he held until his death.
Joseph was an avid reader and loved all genres, especially non-fiction and historical autobiographies.
Joseph met the love of his life, Ann Marie Brahan, and they were married on December 20, 2020. Joseph was an absolute angel and the light of Ann Marie’s life. They had four pets together whom Joseph loved dearly, especially their Baby Dog. They had so many wonderful plans ahead, and the future was bright.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joe Cole, Faye Cole, Peter Rey and Jane Rey.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann Marie Brahan Rey, his devoted father Col. (Ret.) Scott Rey, his caring mother Brenda Cole Palmer, his best friend in life- his brother Johnathan (Rachel) Rey, his adoring aunts Connie and Janis Cole. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles and a host of cousins and dear friends.
Services will be held with visitation at 1:30 pm and service at 3:00 pm on Saturday November 6th at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS with a private family burial service following at Roseland Park Mausoleum.
