Katherine Ainsworth Gray

Katherine Ainsworth Gray (nickname Kate) died at her Hattiesburg residence in March this year.

Kate was born into the family of father Reginald A. Gray, Jr., and mother Eloise Ainsworth Gray in 1953, and was raised in Hattiesburg.  She attended the University of Mississippi and graduated in 1974.  While there she especially enjoyed participating in the exploits of her sorority, Chi Omega.

Kate worked in fashion merchandising and was a voracious reader.  She was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church and particularly enjoyed the fellowship of the churchís hospitality group, the Merry Marthas, which she adopted as her ministry.

Kate is survived by brothers, Sandy Gray (Alice Carol) of Sumrall and Robert Gray of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nieces, Alison Anderson (Dave) of Cave Creek, AZ, Kathy Gavin of Sumrall, and Kim Wislocki (Adam) of Madison; and nephew Arthur Gray (Bev) of Seaside, FL.

She was predeceased by her parents and by siblings, Carol Gray and Vaughan Gray both of Hattiesburg.

Anyone wishing to make a memorial gift in Kateís name is invited to contribute to Trinity Episcopal Church (509 West Pine Street, Hattiesburg 39401) or to the donorís charity of choice.

Kateís death follows closely upon the February death of her youngest brother, Vaughan.  A joint funeral service celebrating the lives of both will be conducted on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Trinity Episcopal Church.  Family visitation will commence at 9:00 a.m.  The service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the churchís garth outside its parish hall, unless inclement weather forces the event into the parish hall or church sanctuary.  COVID precautions then in effect will be observed.
