Lula Mae Collum
Mae, as she preferred to be called, was the second of 9 children born to Robert Henry and Mary Elanor Truitt. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of September 15, 2019 surrounded by her children, her sister and a houseful of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was 92 years young.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, Ernest Earl Collum, Sr., seven siblings, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, James Collum (Verne) of Jackson, Sue Gibson of Brooklyn, Faye Fairley of Petal, Ann Collum Hennis of Petal, Roger Collum (Stella) of Collinsville, AL, Darlene Riggs (Dwight) of Petal, Sandy Gunter (Leon), of Collinsville, AL, Danny Collum (Machelle) of Gulfport, Missy James (Jason) of Petal, 2 stepchildren, Carleen Thompson (Alva Jay) of Jacksonville, TX, Ernest Earl Collum, Jr. of Cullman, AL, one sister, Dean Windham of Ellisville, five generations of grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Hulett Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg from 5pm-9pm on Tuesday, September 17 and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at Hulett Winstead with burial following at Highland Park Cemetery, also in Hattiesburg. Officiates will be Doug Ralson and Brad Bownlee.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers will be her grandsons; Marc Collum, Waylin Gibson, Damon Hennis, Jerry Gibson, Bryan Hennis, Matthew Collum, Dexter Hennis and Kenny Fairley.
In death, as in life she is remembered by her great grandsons as honorary pallbearers; Dale Collum, Jon Collum, Ashton Showes, Bryan Cagle, Brantley Cagle, Dakota Bazor, Lane Bagwell, Justin Collum, Jacob Bagwell, Davison “Bubba” Hennis, Cole Richard Collum, Ethan Fairley, Zack Gibson, Josh Edwards and Emmett Hennis.
