Marie Viella Reggiani
Marie A. (Viella) Reggiani, 80, of Purvis, MS died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. She was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Margaret (Christofori) Viella.
Marie is survived by her long-time companion, Daniel Simmons, Jr.of Purvis, MS and leaves behind two children, Janet M. Voyer and her husband Richard of Plymouth, MA, and David M. Reggiani of Weymouth, MA; three grandchildren, Andrea Voyer of Easton, MA, Michael Voyer of Plymouth, MA, and David Robert Reggiani of Plymouth, MA. She was very close to Danielís two children Daniel Simmons III of Purvis, Kimberly Simmons of Atlanta, GA and their families. She leaves behind her brother Robert Viella and his wife Patricia; nephews Stephen and Jeffrey Viella, and niece, Elise Viella, all of Plymouth, MA. Marie was predeceased by her former husband, Robert L. Reggiani and her daughter Susan M. Reggiani.
Born and raised in Plymouth, Marie graduated from the Plymouth Public School System and received her Bachelors and Masters Degree in elementary education from Bridgewater State College. She began her teaching career in Norwalk, CT, returned home, and taught second grade for 30 years in Plymouth before retiring and moving to Purvis where she lived for 22 years. Marie had a great spirit and loved being with Dan, entertaining friends, and enjoying her pets. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and knitting, playing games, and watching movies with Dan III. She also enjoyed her time with her bible study group at the First Baptist Church in Purvis. In Plymouth, she had been a member of the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha choir and the Plymouth Rod and Gun Club, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
A service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, at 1:00, at the First Baptist Church in Purvis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Wildlife Federation, PO Box 1583, Merrifield VA 22116-1583 or online, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 or online.
A celebration of Marieís life will be held in Plymouth at a later date.
