Micah Wesley Griffin

On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Micah Wesley Griffin, loving son, brother and friend, entered his eternal home at the age of 25.

Born in Hattiesburg, Micah attended Presbyterian Christian School for 13 years, graduating in 2013. He was a valued member of the track, basketball and football teams, earning all-state honors, state track championships and playing in the MAIS 2012 All-Star football game. He was a Mississippi Eminent Scholar and received numerous academic and leadership scholarships. He learned to love the maroon and white at an early age and continued his education at Mississippi State University, graduating in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, a Palmer Home for Children volunteer and enjoyed intramural football and basketball.

His kindergarten year began with learning to read and write this sentence, establishing a foundation for his life, friendships and eventual faith in Christ:  God.  God loves Micah.  Micah loves God.

One of Micah’s college friends described him as “the better friend in his relationships, willing to go the extra mile for others and always being there whenever you needed him.” Proverbs 18:24 “There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” God is not half-hearted in His workmanship or undecided in His purpose. For 25 years, Micah’s life blessed others, even strangers in need, and he is greatly loved by his Savior, family and friends.

Micah is survived by his parents, Amy and Wesley Griffin, and his brothers Aaron Griffin and Nathan Griffin, all of Hattiesburg. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Griffin of Hattiesburg, and maternal grandfather, John Heiden of Jackson.

A private Memorial Service honoring Micah will be January 21 at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Chapel in Hattiesburg.

Memorials can be made online to Samaritan’s Purse or the Southern Pines Animal Shelter.
