Michael E. West
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Highland Cemetery for Mr. Michael E. West, 80, of Hattiesburg, MS.
He passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at Asbury Hosice House.
Mr. West was elected president of West Brothers, Inc in August, 1966 and was founder, president, and owner of Highway Express, Inc. (1969). He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Krewe of Zeus, Chamber of Commerce, Hattiesburg Redevelopment Authority, Mississippi Trucking Assn. for 35 years (serving as president in 1970-1971), American Trucking Assn. (ATA vice-president-Mississippi), Deposit Guaranty Bank (member of Board for 35 years-served as Chairman for 17 years), and a member of Hattiesburg County Club.
He was a big Elvis Presley fan and he loved the New York Yankees and old cars. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey E. and Venice M. West and a brother, Fredrick H. West.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Risher West; two daughters, Michele Davis (Randy) and Melinda Quave (Ken); one brother and best friend, Harvey E. (Toby) West, Jr. (Margarette); three sisters, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Michael was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy. He had the drive and ability to do anything he wanted to and was a good and decent man.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Waldoff, Milton Waldoff, Richard Hunt, Harold Light, Ken Quave, and Randy Davis.
