Miguel Medina Garcia

Miguel Medina Garcia departed this life on November 8, 2020, in Hattiesburg, MS, after a weeks-long battle against COVID.  He was surrounded by his family.

Miguel was born on April 20, 1966, in San Antonio Villalongín, Michoacán, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States in 1986.  He met his wife and life-long love Laura in 1993, became a US citizen in 2001, and worked faithfully supporting his family in a variety of businesses in South Mississippi for over a quarter century.  Miguel was a devoted husband to Laura and father to his three sons, Eusebio, Eric, and Jason.  He operated numerous restaurants and enjoyed sharing a diverse cultural dining experience with his adopted community.

Miguel is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elauterio Medina and Agricola Jimenez, his maternal grandparents Ana Maria Luna and Pedro Garcia, and a sister, Rosalina Medina. 
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laura Cavender Medina, his three sons, Eusebio, Eric, and Jason, his parents, Eusebio Medina and Enedina Garcia, his brothers, Adan Medina Garcia (Leticia), Adalberto Medina Garcia (Selena), Juan Luis Medina Garcia (Luisa), and Angel Medina Garcia, and his sisters, Eva Medina de Perez, Celia Medina de Gomez (Santiago), and Elisa Medina de Gonzalez (Pablo).
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 313 Walnut St., Hattiesburg, MS, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial (in Spanish) to follow.    Miguel will be interred at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 732 Bonhomie Rd., Hattiesburg, immediately after the funeral mass.

Sacred Heart Safety Guidelines:  masks are required; 150-person max attendance during Mass; please maintain social distance from those outside of a person’s party during Mass.
