Nancy Gutsch

Memorial Services will be held at a later date for Mrs. Nancy Gutsch, 86, of Hattiesburg, MS.
She passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 .
Mrs. Gutsch was a graduate of Ole Miss and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a bookkeeper for Lamar Advertising, where she was enticed by Terrell Adams to learn to fly. She went on to obtain her private pilot's license, her instrument rating, a commercial license, instructor, airline transport pilot, and finally her multi-engine rating. She was the first woman certified in the state of MS to fly a 727 passenger plane. She ultimately became an Air Traffic Controller in Jackson at the International Airport, although she preferred to be up in the air.
She was an excellent bridge player, and rarely lost a bet at the casinos. She was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune in 1991 with winnings of $8300.00.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Ken Gutsch and a sister, Tricia Speed.
She is survived by her daughter, Kenda Jordan; a brother, Paul Ramey; three grandchildren, Colby Cuevas (Brittany), Casey C. Wilberding, and Conner Cuevas (Jackie); four great-grandchildren, Addison Wilberding, Oliver, Evie, and Caroline Cuevas.
