Nell White Ferguson

Nell White Ferguson, born March 16, 1924, passed away quietly on Friday, November 17, 2014, with her son at her side. She was a native of Pelahatchie, MS, daughter of the late Ella Johnson White and Eddie W. White. She received a B.A. degree from Millsaps College in Jackson where she worked art time in the President's office and the college Book Store and Grill. She was a member of the Honor Sorority Kappa Delta Epsilon, a professional educational sorority on campus. She was a member of the social organization "Vikings" and was selected for the beauty section of the BOBASHELA, the Millsaps College annual publication.
For a number of years, Mrs. Ferguson taught in Mississippi's public schools in Pickens, Pelahatchie, Artesia, Flora, Jackson, and Laurel. After teaching, she became a homemaker for her husband and two sons. Later she became active in sales with the Office Products Industry in Gulfport, MS and Birmingham, AL. In 1976 she was awarded the "Award of Merit" by the National Office Products Association, Alexandria, VA for many years of dedication and meritorious service to the industry.
Mrs. Ferguson was very active in church work in all cities of residence in Mississippi and Alabama. Her leadership ability was quite evident as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Church Board of Trustees and Advisory Board. She was a life member of Junior Auxiliary, a cub scout leader, and and active member of Garden Club and Sewing Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.W. "Bob" Ferguson, Jr., a son, R.W. "Bill" Ferguson, III and a sister, Mary Lou White.
She is survived by a son, Scott Ferguson and daughter-in-law, Michele; grandsons, Landon (Jennifer) and Lane (Jessica) Ferguson and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday at Florence Cemetery in Florence, MS.
