Regis Domergue, a businessman and life-long resident of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the age of seventy.
Regis is survived by his father, CR Domergue; his daughter, Hartley Domergue Jackson (Ryan); her mother, Lucy Hand Domergue; grandchildren, Charlie and Lucy; his siblings, Patricia Domergue McCrory, Rick Domergue, and Mary Paige Domergue Shaw; and his niece and nephews, Chris McCrory, Dale McCrory, Paul Gaudet, and Cannon Gaudet. He is predeceased by his mother, Dale Butler Domergue.
Regis was born in Hattiesburg on October 23, 1949. He attended Hattiesburg High and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a dedicated member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Epsilon Upsilon Chapter. Regis owned several businesses in Hattiesburg including The Library Lounge, The Haberdash, The Ceiling Fan, and Domergue Seafood Brokerage Company.
Regis was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, playing guitar, dancing, skiing, sailing, cooking, and tailgating at USM football games. He was a member of the Hattiesburg Racquet Club and had the fondest memories playing with “The Grumpy Old Men” and “The Motley Crew” tennis teams. A strong left hander led to many trophies in racquetball and tennis all across Mississippi. He was an avid fisherman who competed in numerous deep sea fishing tournaments on The Sea Hunter, winning second place in the blue marlin category. He mostly enjoyed fishing in his backyard with his daughter, family, and friends.
Regis made an impact on so many lives across generations. His infectious smile, kindness and open heartedness will never be forgotten. He leaves us with so much love in our hearts and gratitude for being a part of his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can come together and share all the memories.
