Richard D. Broome
Richard D. Broome died Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the age of 76. Mr. Broome was born in Sumrall and resided there for the majority of his life.
Mr. Broome “never met an automobile he couldn’t fix” and worked as a mechanic at car dealerships and automotive shops in New Orleans, Hattiesburg and Sumrall. Mr. Broome enjoyed many interests including farming, sawmilling, excavating, woodworking and jigsaw puzzles.
Mr. Broome is preceded in death by his parents, Edna (Sumrall) and Buford Broome; a brother, James Broome; and a sister, Blanche Millsaps. Survivors include a niece, Earline Millsaps (and husband Robin Feuerbacher) of Hood River, OR; a nephew, David Millsaps Jr. of Benton City, WA; and ex-wife Norma Jean Gardner.
Mr. Broome was blessed with caring friends and family in Sumrall whose love and devotion enriched his life.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28th, at Rock Hill Community Cemetery in Sumrall followed by a fellowship gathering at the Rock Hill Baptist Church.
