Robert Virgil Ball

Services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Purvis Chapel for Chief Petty Officer Robert Virgil Ball, 79, of Purvis, MS.
Interment will be in Miller Family Cemetery.
Mr. Ball was born September 4, 1937 in Harper, OH. After 21 years of being in the military, he retired as Chief Petty Officer from the United States Coast Guard. He loved woodworking, camping, fishing, and making people laugh. But most of all, he dearly loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Michael and Ida Mae Benchoff Ball of Bellefountaine, OH; his daughter, Teresa Armstrong (Eddie) of New Bern, NC; siblings, Betty Toomey (Richard) of Piqua, OH, Phillip Ball (Sue) of Bellefountaine, OH and Jack Parks of Arizona.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia Rose Ball of Purvis, MS. his children, son, Robert Victor Ball (Robin) and daughter, Linda Slaughter (Linwood) both of New Bern, NC; son, Jason M. Ball (Kristi) of Hattiesburg; step-son, Carmen John Sabette; Step-daughters, Cheryl Messmer (Brian) all of Theodore, AL and Deanna Larkin (James) of Fredericksburg, VA. He was a beloved grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bob was one of ten siblings, Joseph Ball (Sue), Mary Ann Addington (Dan), Frank Ball (Bonnie) David Ball all of Ohio, Alice Dye of AZ and Nancy Webber (William) of MD.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Purvis Chapel.
