Stanley C. Benigno, Sr.
Stanley C. Benigno, Sr., 70, died at his home in Hattiesburg on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
A Catholic, Stanley spent the middle 70's very active in the Cursillo Movement of Mississippi.
Stanley was born March 8, 1941 in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He attended Pass High and was named Mr. Pass High in 1959. After attending college at the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi, he returned to the Pass to pursue commercial fishing. He owned several boats in his life and he never tired of the water.
He went to work for New Orleans Public Service in 1965. He spent the next 21 years at the Michoud Power Plant as an operator/purchaser.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Benigno of Pass Christian.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jerry Branscum Benigno; sons, Dr. Chuck Benigno, Lt. Col. Kenneth Benigno (retired), and daughter, Michelle Benigno. He has eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
