Teddy Dees Reed, Sr.
Teddy was age 83 and died on Friday, February 8th, 2019. He was born on October 28th, 1935 and was the youngest of eight children to James Madison Reed and Chellie Reed of Philadelphia, MS. He moved to Hattiesburg at the age of five and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1953. In 1954, Teddy joined the United States Army and his first duty assignment was the Korean War. He was a retired Hattiesburg Firefighter, and spent time overseas as a fire chief in Saudi Arabia, Diego Garcia and Johnston Atoll. Teddy finished his career at the University of Southern Mississippi in the Security Division. He was a Mason, Shriner, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3036.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Cluff Reed: one daughter, Scarlett Reed Callahan: one son, Teddy “Buster” Reed Jr; three grandchildren, Shelby Winpigler (Ben), Anna Reed, Hunter Callahan and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memoriams can be made to the Hattiesburg Firefighters Benevolence Association in honor of Teddy Reed, Sr C/O Trustmark Bank, 300 W. Pine Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
Memorial services will be at Sacred Heart Church Thursday, February 14th, 2019 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Military Rites will be performed by the VFW Post 3036 Honor Guard.
