Theodore Bilbo Bailey, Jr.

Theodore Bilbo Bailey, Jr., 83, of Hattiesburg, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Mr. Bailey was a life-long resident of Hattiesburg. After graduating from Hattiesburg High School in 1956, he became a homebuilder/contractor. His career spanned three and a half decades leaving his craftmanship on businesses and residences throughout Hattiesburg and Forrest and Lamar counties. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and made numerous pieces of furniture and decor for family and friends. He also was a collector of antiques and regional artifacts, especially arrowheads.
Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Bilbo Bailey, Sr. and Nora Johnson Bailey; his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Turner; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Culpepper and Joycelyn Bailey.
He is survived by his children, Margaret Diane Shepherd of Hattiesburg, Allan Johnson Bailey of Mobile, AL, and John Patrick Bailey (Kathy) of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren, Nate Moore of Bentonia, MS, Nick Moore (Stacie) of Seminary, MS, Josiah Byrd (Amanda) of Petal, MS, Jeremy Bailey (Rachel) of Hattiesburg, MS, Thomas Turner of Petal, MS, Kristin Plunkett (Hal) of Ridgeland, MS, and Heather Bailey of Hattiesburg; eight great grandchildren, Adrian Moore, Hannah Moore, Riley McElhaney, Bailey Byrd, Makala Byrd, Wyatt Turner, Addison Bailey, and Audrey Bailey.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Roseland Cemetery. Reverend Ray Boone will officiate. Visitation will be at 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home. The family expresses deep appreciation to the staff of Asbury Hospice House for the compassion and care shown to Mr. Bailey during his final days.
