Thomas Malcom Shattles, Sr.
Services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Clear Creek Methodist Protestant Church for Mr. Thomas Malcom Shattles, Sr. 81, of Brooklyn, MS.
He died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his childhood home after several months of declining health.
Interment will be in Brooklyn Cemetery.
Thomas and his brother, Benny Frank Shattles were the owners of Shattles Brothers Logging for 18 years. In 1958 he joined the Mississippi National Guard, where he served six years. He was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Clear Creek Methodist Protestant Church in Janice, MS.
Mr. Shattles was preceded in death by his parents, George M. and Nora Shattles; three brothers, George, James, and Benny Frank Shattles; three sisters, Evelyn Carter, Mary E. Taylor, and Sarah Clinton and his beloved nephew, Hanky Carter.
Thomas is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Ruby Shattles of Brooklyn, MS; two sons, Thomas M. "Mack" Shattles, Jr. (Shawn) of Brooklyn, MS and Steven Shattles (Barbara) of Brooklyn, MS; two daughters, Jennifer King (Mike) of Brooklyn, MS and Mary Brown of Seminary, MS; seven grandchildren, Trey Hopstein, Sydney Brown, Charlie Shattles, Matthew Shattles, Conner Shattles, Tori Hopstein, and Katie Shattles and three step-grandchildren, Alex King, John Tyler Temple and Anabelle Temple.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday at Clear Creek Methodist Protestant Church.
