Tommie Jean Willoughby
Tommie Jean Richardson Willoughby, 76, died peacefully on February 8, 2018 at Asbury Hospice House after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Tommie was born on November 11, 1941 in Kosciusko, MS to the late James Dodson Richardson and Emma Mavis Hayes Richardson. She graduated from Biloxi High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. During her time at Southern Miss she met her future husband, Ben Willoughby. They married in 1962 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage this past December. She began work at South Central Bell in 1962 and retired after 33 years of service in 1995. While at South Central Bell, Tommie was named Woman of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association for her contributions and service to the Special Olympics, March of Dimes, and The American Cancer Society. Tommie attended Temple Baptist Church. Her hobbies included fishing, reading, gardening, and attending her grandsons’ sporting events. She was also an avid fan of Southern Miss baseball, football and basketball.
In addition to her husband Ben, Tommie is survived by her children: Debbie Brooks (Todd) of Madison and Vicki Husband (Warren) of Madison; grandchildren: Will, Bo, and Ty Brooks; Maggie, Lily, and Caleb Husband, and brother Larry Richardson (Selena) of Austin, TX.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 10:00 am Monday,
