Toxie Hall McGrew
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Sumrall for Mr. Toxie Hall McGrew, 85, of Sumrall, MS. He died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his residence.
Interment will be in First Baptist Church of Sumrall Cemetery with military rites performed by the VFW Post 3036 Honor Guard.
Mr. McGrew graduated from the "school of Hard Knocks". He was a general contractor; building homes, businesses, and mausoleums. He was the restaurant owner of "The Big Swamp" and was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. Mr. McGrew was an avid camper, as a member of Pine Belt Ramblers Camping Club for 35 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Pearl Dobson McGrew; one sister, Sally McGrew Moree, two brothers, J.L. and Hugh McGrew, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Broome McGrew of Sumrall, MS; four sons, Toxie Hall McGrew, Jr. (Marla) of Melrose, FL, Terry McGrew (Stephanie), Tim McGrew (Patsy), and Vince McGrew (Tracey) all of Sumrall, MS; one daughter, Tina Edwards (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the "Homes of Hope for Children", PO Box 18496, Hattiesburg, MS or the local Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Sumrall.
