Walter Miller Didlake, III

Walter Miller Didlake III transitioned from this life on December 2, 2021, only days after his sixty-third birthday.  He died tragically at UMMC in Jackson, MS due to multiple complications after an automobile accident in July.

Walter was born in Starkville, MS, to Walter Miller Didlake, Jr. and Annie Maude Leach on November 14, 1958. By many he was known as “Scooter” but later in life grew to prefer his given name. He learned his father’s trade and became a contractor for plumbing / heating / air, and led a business that serviced several well known establishments from the gulf coast to Hattiesburg. After adopting a daughter (Sara) and having one of his own (Jennifer), fathering became one of Walter’s greatest accomplishments.  Although he became disabled in his thirties, and his journey was marked with many trials, he overcame with his faith and support from his friends and family.  Some of Walter’s favorite pastimes included playing guitar, telling stories of pirates, enjoying good coffee, absorbing Acadiana culture, serving his God and his neighbors, and being present for those he loved.  Walter took any opportunity he could to spend time with his daughters and granddaughters - by whom, he is affectionately known as “Pappy”.  Ultimately, Walter’s faith kept him strong until his last breath.  He will be greatly missed.

Walter leaves behind his two daughters Jennifer Ann Didlake and Sara Ann Didlake, as well as his four granddaughters Jasmine Raine Sandifer-Simon, Hosanna Claire Simon, Rebekah Eliana Simon, and Olivia Wryn Gutting. Walter is survived by his sister Ann Miller and his beloved nieces and nephews: Tommy Miller, Laurie Miller McCants, Alton Miller, and Lynn Miller Harrington.  Walter also leaves behind an aunt as well as many dear cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
