William "Butch" Cameron, Sr.

William R. “Butch” Cameron, Sr., of Hattiesburg, MS, died peacefully at his home from an extended illness on November 19, 2017. He was 77 years old and surrounded by his family at the time of his death.
Butch was a native of Hattiesburg, MS, and preceded in death by his parents, Hebron and Rubye Cameron, and brother Jack Cameron.
He started his career as an electrician in 1958 and retired in 2009 from Chain Electric Company as Executive Vice President. Butch enjoyed
being active in his church at 38th Avenue Baptist Church, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family, his beloved dachshund Rosie, and many friends in the Hattiesburg area.
Butch is survived by his wife, Sherry Walters Cameron, of Hattiesburg, his son, Billy Cameron (Valerie) of Nashville, TN, and two daughters, Cindy Townsend (Michael) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Angela Stokes (Bob) of Hattiesburg, MS. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Justin Rand, Sara Slade, Reese Cameron, and Marabeth Cameron. As well as his children and
grandchildren, Mr. Cameron is survived by his brother, Jim Cameron, of Hattiesburg, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and acquaintances of Butch are invited for a time of visitation and remembrance on Wednesday, November 22, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home. His celebration service will be held on the same day at 11:00. His service will be officiated by Rev. John Cockrell, Dr. Kevin Shearer, and eulogy by Jim Cameron.
The Cameron family has requested that memorial donations be made to Forrest General Home Care and Hospice, 1414 S 28th Avenue, Hattiesburg, MS.
