Winifred Barbara Griffis Bellamy
Winifred Barbara Griffis Bellamy, a resident of Gautier since 1971, died May 28, 2018 in Mobile, AL.
She was born July 25, 1934 in Beaumont, MS. The only child of the late Alfred Owen and Winnie Shoemake Griffis. She is the Granddaughter of the late Reverend Stephen Alexander and Frances Tatum Shoemake of Collins and the late Jefferson and Lillian Compton Griffis, one of the founding families of Beaumont.
Winifred graduated from Beaumont High School in 1952 and attended Mississippi Southern College (now USM) in Hattiesburg from 1952-1954. She retired in 1995 as a county secretary for the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service in Pascagoula.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzie Burch (Jim) of Madison, AL, Sally Parsons (Greg) of Huntsville, AL, and Jennifer Dominick (Colin Bailey) of Mobile, AL; three grandsons, Michael Weir (Lyn), Scott Weir, and Shaun Burch; two great-grandchildren with another on the way.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in Beaumont at the Historic Methodist Church, built and donated to the Methodist Conference in 1915 by her Grandfather, Jefferson Griffis and James Howard Overstreet.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday at the church.
Conducting the service will be Jason Jones.
Interment will be in the Griffis Family Plot in Beaumont Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Jim Burch, Shaun Burch, Greg Parsons, Michael Weir, Scott Weir, and Colin Bailey.
Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or Charity of one's choice.
