W.M. Stewart, Sr.
On Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the age of 86, Mr. W.M. Stewart passed away peacefully at his home.
W.M. was born to John M. and Marguerite Stewart on September 23, 1934 in Maxie, MS.
He was a lifelong member of Trueway Missionary Baptist Church, a devoted husband to his loving wife of 67 years, Carmen, and a loving father to his three children, William, Jr. "Willie," Anna, and Jonathan.
After serving in the United States Army, W.M. returned home to Brooklyn, MS where he began his career as a salesman for Barron Motor Company, where he was regularly a top producer. After an extended career in automobile sales, W.M. and Carmen owned and operated multiple successful service stations and small businesses. W.M. also presided as Justice of the Peace for Beat 5 Forrest County. After retirement, W.M. enjoyed raising cattle on his farm in South Forrest County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Mylie Stewart and Marguerite Ophelia
Shows; brother, John Stewart; sisters, Anna Holzmiller, Doris Sanford and Marilyn Lambrecht; son, William Monroe "Willie" Stewart, Jr. and granddaughter, Sydney Arrington Stewart.
He is survived by his wife Carmen Stewart; daughter, Anna Stewart Satcher; son, Jonathan M. Stewart (Pam); two granddaughters, Candace Stewart and Tatum Elisabeth Stewart; three grandsons, William M. Stewart, III (Rachel), Zachary Stewart and Jonathan Sawyer Stewart; three great grandchildren, Natalie Mixon, Rodney Mixon and William Ray Stewart; along with multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.
The family would like to thank his many caregivers who provided excellent care and
comfort during his illness.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM at Trueway
Baptist Church in Brooklyn with Brother Bill Morris officiating, with the service to follow.
Interment will be in Trueway Baptist Church Cemetery.
